What is periodontal care?
Periodontal care addresses gum disease, which can affect the tissues and bone supporting teeth. Treatment depends on the extent of the disease and may include cleaning below the gumline and ongoing maintenance.
Your questions, answered
Periodontal (gum) care FAQs
A few things to know before your visit.
What signs should I look out for?
Bleeding, swollen or tender gums, persistent bad breath, gum recession or loose teeth deserve a dental assessment. Gum disease can also develop without obvious discomfort.
Is this the same as a regular cleaning?
No. Periodontal treatment addresses disease below the gumline and is planned according to your condition.
Is it covered by the $79 cleaning offer?
No. The new patient cleaning offer is for patients without periodontal disease. Periodontal treatment is quoted separately.
Will I need ongoing care?
Your dentist will recommend maintenance visits and home care based on your gum health.
Can I have gum disease without pain?
Yes. Regular examinations help identify changes you may not notice yourself.
