Extractions
Understand when removing a tooth may be the right next step.
At Smile Magic
What is a tooth extraction?
An extraction removes a tooth that cannot be kept or needs to be removed as part of a treatment plan. Your dentist will explain why it is recommended, possible alternatives and how to care for the area as it heals.
Your questions, answered
Extractions FAQs
A few things to know before your visit.
Can the tooth be saved instead?
That depends on its condition. Ask your dentist whether a filling, crown or root canal treatment could be an option.
What should I tell the dentist beforehand?
Share your medical history and all medicines and supplements you take. Do not stop prescribed medication unless your treating clinician tells you to.
What is recovery like?
Follow your dentist’s instructions for eating, cleaning and activity. Avoid smoking and straws during early healing, and contact the office about persistent bleeding or worsening pain.
Will I need to replace the tooth?
It depends on which tooth is removed and your overall dental needs. Your dentist can discuss replacement options.
Is extraction included in the implant special?
No. Extractions are excluded from the $3,499 single-tooth implant offer and are quoted separately.
