What is children’s dental care?
Children’s dental visits focus on developing teeth and gums, preventing decay and helping families care for teeth at home. Visits are also a chance to ask questions about brushing, eating habits and changes as children grow.
Your questions, answered
Children’s dentistry FAQs
A few things to know before your visit.
When should a child first see a dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends a first visit after the first tooth appears and no later than the first birthday.
How can I prepare my child?
Use simple, positive language and practice opening wide. Bring any questions and tell the office about concerns or additional needs.
Do baby teeth need care even though they fall out?
Yes. Baby teeth help children eat and speak and hold space for permanent teeth.
Do you accept MassHealth for children?
Smile Magic Family Dentistry is in-network with MassHealth for children under 21. Coverage for a particular service depends on the patient’s benefits.
What if my child has tooth pain?
Call the office promptly to discuss symptoms and appointment availability. Do not wait for a routine checkup.
